Riviera Still a Palm Springs Hit

Best Read Guide
The Palm Springs Riviera Resort and Racquet Club, bathed in sapphire skies under the San Jacinto Mountains, is a representation of past and present Palm Springs culture. Opened in 1959 and renovated in the 1990s, the Riviera Resort offers a home-like ambience for overnight guests and local, daily visitors, plus an architectural character that's unmatched in the Coachella Valley.

The central point of the resort is the main pool, which was the filming site of the 1960s hit "Palm Springs Weekend," starring Troy Donahue and Connie Stevens. Guests can enjoy their favorite libations in the bar while overlooking the activity of the pool. Or they can choose to have a delightful meal in the Grill Restaurant, which also offers beautiful views of the main pool with either outdoors or indoors dining. Entertainment poolside is offered each weekend from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. And the Sunday brunch is the best that Palm Springs has to offer.

While visiting the resort, guests usually get a good look at the historical Mediterranean Room and Grand Ballroom. These rooms were made famous by frequent performances by the likes of Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, the Rat Pack, the Andrews Sisters and many more. The built-in stages in both of these renovated ballrooms offer character that's unseen in resorts and hotels built after the 1960s era.

Should recreation be "your bag," the Riviera offers more amenities than any other resort in Palm Springs. Nine tennis courts, an 18-hole championship putting course, sand volleyball, half-court basketball, an exercise center and two spectacular pools await you.
